Seminars & Training

Half Day Seminars (approx. 3 hours for $2,750 plus HST)

In a half day seminar, Glenford Jameson will present on the topic selected by your team, reserving time for questions and answers. Presentations will be made via PowerPoint, with additional materials distributed as necessary. Each seminar will also include discussion questions and/or workshops to help facilitate conversation.

Topics include:

The Food Regulatory Framework — an introduction to the Food and Drug Act / Regulations and the Safe Food for Canadians Act / Regulations (including relevant updates); each seminar will address the regulatory process for obtaining a Safe Food for Canadians Act licence.

Labelling and Packaging — what you need to know to ensure compliance with the labelling and packaging requirements in Canada; each seminar will include a workshop where guests conduct a “mock” label review.

How to Navigate a Recall — whether a voluntary recall on your end, or a recall driven by external complaint or illness, the process of navigating such action can be stressful. Learn what to expect from a recall, what the Canadian Food Inspection Agency requires to conduct an effective recall, and how to prepare should you ever be in a recall position.

Co-Packing — what is co-packing and when do you need it? Learn to troubleshoot problematic, co-packing relationships, and negotiate an effective co-packing agreement that works in your best interest.

Not-for-Profit Corporations — your legal and governance requirements under the Not for Profit Corporations Act (Ontario) or the Canada Not for Profit Corporations Act, an overview of director liability and how to minimize it, and a general discussion around identifying core values and how these are met through the underlying structure of your corporation.

Natural Health Products — what is a Natural Health Product (“NHP”) and how does it differ from food? Can a product be both natural health and food? This seminar will explore licensing, navigating the Natural and Non-Prescription Health Products Directorate (“NNHPD”), the difference between NPNs and DIN-HMs, and how to label your product in a compliant manner.

Full Day Seminars (approx. 5 hours for $3,750 plus HST)

In a full day seminar, Glenford Jameson will present on two topics of your choice, separated by a break in between. Each topic will be conducted for two hours, reserving time for questions and answers. Presentations will be made via PowerPoint, with additional materials distributed as necessary. Group discussion is encouraged, and workshops will be provided to facilitate conversation. We highly recommend utilizing the break for a lunch period, or for further social interaction and networking.

Topic combinations could include:

  • The Food Regulatory Framework / Labelling and Packaging

  • The Food Regulatory Framework / How to Navigate a Recall

  • Labelling and Packaging / Co-Packing
